Why Advocate?
The name "Advocate Fundraising" was born out of lived experience.
Before founding AF, Nichole spent years working in the nonprofit sector. She loved the work. But too often, she witnessed toxic environments where ego overtook mission, teams were silenced, and values were compromised. People who raised concerns were pushed out rather than supported.
So Nichole walked away—not from the sector, but from the dysfunction. She created Advocate Fundraising to do things differently: to offer the fundraising support organizations need, while building cultures rooted in ethics, inclusion, and care.
Our Definition of Advocacy
According to the dictionary, an advocate is:
Someone who publicly supports a cause or policy
Someone who pleads on another’s behalf
To us? Advocacy is action. It means:
Supporting nonprofits and their teams with compassion and strategy
Showing up for causes that matter, even when it’s hard
Empowering organizations to fundraise without compromising their values
Calling in the resources, relationships, and recognition that help change take root
